Harvey.

I was preparing the Keurig for making the usual cup of coffee this morning. I poured the water into it; realizing I had too much in the cup that I use to refill it. It didn’t seem very much; maybe a little under 1/2 of a cup. As I poured what I didn’t need into the sink, I realized that the people of Texas that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey do not have enough drinking water. Sure, donations are coming in by the truck loads and the shelters are providing it from those donations. However, those individuals do not have the luxury of pouring water into their Keurigs. Their coffee makers were decimated during the storm. They do not have running; drinking water of their own and probably won’t for quite some time. I became humble and realized the water that I poured out was taken for granted.

I currently sell various items in an online consignment closet at Poshmark . I will be using all sales and proceeds towards donations for those affected by Harvey. Here in my local town, a truck will be picking up supplies for those affected by the storm and driving them straight to Texas. I will be purchasing water, canned foods, and non-perishables. With another catastrophic storm in our midst, consider helping those who cannot help themselves.

Next time you make that next cup-of-joe, think about those that cannot. Find a reputable source for donations and take the time to open your hearts to those that can’t freely make their own cup of coffee.  I am a firm believer in karma.

Here are some sources for donations that I have discovered for helping the victims of Harvey:
